Database Backup Made Easy

Protecting your hotel data is critical. Bistone HMS provides simple yet powerful backup options for both Standalone (single PC) and Network versions. Below you will find manual and automatic backup methods to keep your database safe.

Standalone Version

Manual Backup: Open your HMS software, go to the main menu, select Administration and then click Backup Database. Choose a destination folder (external drive, network location, or cloud sync folder) and save the backup file. This creates a complete snapshot of your database.

Automatic Backup (On Exit): When your system accumulates a significant number of reservations, Bistone HMS will automatically display an auto-backup setup dialog each time you exit the software. You can then configure the system to perform automatic backups. Once set, the backup runs automatically.

Network Version

Manual Backup: On the server computer where Bistone HMS Network version is installed, launch the Database Maintenance Tool from the Windows Start menu or the HMS program group. Use the backup function to create a secure backup of the entire database. This tool gives you full control over backup location and verification.

Automatic Backup: The Network version includes a robust scheduled backup system. Please refer to the dedicated article: How Does the Network Version Auto Backup?

Best Practices for Both Versions

  • Store backups on a different physical device or cloud storage to prevent data loss from hardware failure.
  • Test your backups periodically by restoring them to a test environment.
  • Keep at least the last 7 daily backups for safety.
